Zhujiajiao
Zhujiajiao is a tourist area and does not boast the feel of a local Chinese town. Although is called "Shanghai's Venice," and is well-preserved. Zhujiajiao was at one time a typical ancient water town in the south of the Yangtze River. History says it first appeared as a village market during the Three-Kingdom Period. Later, it became a bustling trade town in the Ming Dynasty. Today, you can still see many well-preserved buildings, stone bridges and stone lanes dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties, while fighting off the hordes of Chinese people asking you to buy over priced memorabilia.
