From Paul Wood, founder of WorldDocent.org

This guide was hastily pieced together from many sources. Nearly all of the reviews in the 0.1 edition of the guide are from other sources and not written by me unless otherwise noted in the revisions section of their page. As of February 5th 2009 I will be actively linking pages of WorldDocent.org to other major local news and review outlets. I also will be changing the guide's content so that WorldDocent.org owns the intellectual property of the guide.

Shanghai was the starting city of the guide and I feel that I will always be in debt to the great English level media outlets in Shanghai. First and Foremost n my eye is SmartShanghai. Secondly I used CityWeekend's Shanghai site to supplement the many venues that are not in SmartShanghai's database. Lastly Urbanatomy Shanghai has a decent listing's database which I used for fact checking.

I find it ironic that for decades Chinese companies have used intellectual property without permission. Now I am actually doing the same to start this new idea. This is a legal issue, however for my moral beliefs I feel that attributing the authors to their work is needed. I will do all I can to prevent plagiarism on this site. While many people like me feel that information wants to be free, I also believe that morally the author must have his duly deserved attention.

I urge the community of Creative Commons and GNU licenses to work together to provide simple legal copyrights that can be transferred from one type to the other. We are quickly creating two different types of legal documents with similar goals that are not compatible. I know this makes it a little less simple but we need a united front.
