Extending Your Visa

Some travelers want to stay longer in China. Other people more time to find work and get a F (business) or Z(work) visa. Others just need to work the system. If you are doing any of these things in Shanghai you will need to go to the Foreign Entry and Exit Administration Building (?Name?).

This building is easiest to get to by Subway. Take the Line 2 (green line) to Shanghai Technology Museum. Signs start pointing you toward the direction you need to go from the exit gate of the platform. You should exit form the number 3 exit. Before leaving the platform you may find that taking your picture from one of the many photo booths is convenient. Most forms at the building require you provide a passport sized photo.

Once outside follow the white signs to the building. You should be facing the direction of the building when exiting. The building is exactly 2 city blocks from the exit gate. Cross one road and the building is at the corner of the next intersection.

Most of the transactions foreigners make are located on the third floor, however the staff is quite fluent in English and perhaps a few other languages. Don't be afraid to ask around for help, including your fellow foreigners.
