Chinese and Numbers
In China there are many 'superstitions' about numbers. This is based on the fact that certain numbers sound like other words when spoken. The most notable number is 4 pronounced 'si' which is the same pronounciation as the word meaning 'to die.' Don't be suprised to see Chinese people avoiding anything with the number four. The numbers 6 8 and 9 all have very positive meanings, fluent, fortunate, and long lasting respectively.
